Jacuzzi Killers

Next time your parents or girlfriend tell you to put away your guitar or laptop filled with stolen production software and get a real job, tell them to go f*ck themselves.  In the Semptember issue of Blender Magazine, an article highlighting the increasingly large amount of cash artists are being paid for privates shows listed out some recent paydays, and near the top of the list were JacuzziKillers.com favorites CSS and Klaxons.  Each groups were paid approximately $370,000 each to perform a short set for Amy Winehouse’s booking agent’s daughter’s May ‘08 birthday party, which got us wondering what some of our other favorite artists make for these kinds of shows.  I am sure this amount is pocket change in comparison to what Playboy shelled out to have Justice, MGMT, and Moby play Hef’s birthday earlier this year. 

So, I guess the lesson here is, anyone who tell’s you there is no money to be made in music anymore, or that posting mp3’s on blogs takes money out of the artists pocket, clearly has their head halfway up their small intesting.
